London CNN —British actor Dominic West has opened up about the furor surrounding images taken in 2020 of him with his former co-star Lily James, calling the situation “absurd” and “deeply stressful” for his family. After the photos were published, West and FitzGerald posed for the press outside their home, holding a piece of paper with the handwritten message: “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together. “And so when we go out, we do sort of say, ‘Shall we go and have a show of unity up in London?’”“It was an absurd situation. It was deeply stressful for my wife and my kids, but there were lighter moments,” West told the British newspaper. LONDON, Sept 18 (Reuters) - London police said on Monday they had received an allegation of a sexual assault dating back 20 years following media reports about comedian and actor Russell Brand. "Officers are in contact with the woman and will be providing her with support," the Metropolitan Police statement said. The Times and Dispatches said one woman had made an allegation of rape, while another said Brand assaulted her when she was 16 and still at school. The reports of the allegations about Brand, once one of the country's most high-profile comedians and broadcasters, has dominated British media since they appeared. CNN —After playing Shiv Roy in “Succession,” the critically acclaimed TV series that satirically portrayed the uber-rich but morally bankrupt Roy family grappling for control of a media empire, Sarah Snook will star in another production that skewers society. She will play all 26 roles in the “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” which will run for 12 weeks at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket from January 2024. Directed by Kip Williams, the artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company, the play will combine live performance and video “in an astonishing collision of form,” Theatre Royal Haymarket said. “I am elated to return to the London stage in such an astonishing piece of theatre,” Snook said, according to theater site WhatsOnStage. Snook’s “Succession” on screen parents are also returning to the London stage.
